What To Expect When You’re Expecting: Farm Edition

A lot of us associate springtime with babies and if you’re expecting babies on your farm you’ll want to ensure that you’re prepared.  Regardless of the species, healthy moms are key to healthy babies.  This means ensuring they’ve had proper nutrition and vaccination during their pregnancies so that they can pass on proper immunity to their young and have the appropriate body condition to continue caring for them once they’re on the ground.

We’ve assembled some species specific list of items to keep on had to ensure a successful start to life:

Different animals labor differently.  If your animal seems like it may be struggling or you have any other reason for concern, call your veterinarian immediately.  They will be able to help determine if a farm call is needed.  It is also essential that any offspring receive colostrum either from the dam or a replacement product shortly after birth.
